Two Actress Will Impersonate Princess Diana

Actresses Keira Knightley and Charlize Theron will go against each other on the big screen as they both are reportedly lined up to impersonate the Princess of Wales commonly called Princess Diana.

Reports say that Theron will be in line to play the late royal in a film about her friendship with her former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, to be portrayed by actor Ewan McGregor. ‘We are intending to make the authentic movie of Diana by using the voices of the people who were there- and Ken Wharfe was right there at her side at the most significant part of her life,’ reporters quoted producer Stephen Evans, who is helming the Theron project. Evans` project is based on bodyguard Ken Wharfe`s controversial book ‘Diana: Closely Guarded Secret’, detailing the eight years he spent with the princess as her personal protection officer.

However, the movie, which is due to start filming next year, will have some competition from Knightley as she is also said to be playing the princess in another film. The bosses behind the Knightley movie are determined to outdo their rival film. They are said to be lining up Dame Helen Mirren, who won an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006`s ‘The Queen’, to play Diana`s mother, Frances Shand Kydd. UK actress Keira Knightley or possibly Scarlett Johansson have been mentioned to star in a movie based on the tragic life of Princess Diana, who was killed in a mysterious car crash in 1997. Diana’s wedding to Prince Charles was ended in divorce in July 1996. Keira, who starred in 2008 period drama ‘The Duchess’ as aristocrat Georgiana Spencer, a distant relative of the late Princess of Wales, is to star in a Diana biopic by film company Pathe.

UK film company Pathe has reportedly started work on the movie, but they have yet to land Keira, 25, as Diana, or Dame Helen Mirren, 65, as Diana’s mother, Frances Shand Kydd. The film will focus on Diana’s life, her marriage to Prince Charles, their separation and her death in a Paris car crash. Diana’s sons, Princes William and Harry are expected to disapprove of the film, which is sure to be controversial. Emotions still run deep about the Royal family’s treatment of the princess and the circumstances surrounding her death. Diana, her lover Dodi Fayed, and the driver of the Mercedes-Benz W140, Henri Paul were killed in the crash. Fayed’s bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones survived with serious injuries. The crash remains controversial because Dodi’s father, Mohamed Al-Fayed, the wealthy owner of Herrod’s department store in London and other properties, believes Britain’s intelligence service was behind the crash. Buckingham Palace declined to comment on either project.
