Miss America Alexandria Mills crowned as new Miss World



Miss United States of America Alexandria Mills has been crowned for this year’s Miss World pageant. She has defeated more than 100 other hopefuls at a glittering ceremony in Chinese resort town of Sanya on Hainan island on October 30.

Miss Botswana Emma Wareus, is the first runner up followed by Miss Venezuela, Adriana Vasini.The blonde Mills, 18, wept as outgoing Miss World Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar placed the tiara on her head and led her to a diamond-shaped throne, in honour of the pageant`s 60th anniversary.Mills, a vegetarian, loves Italian pasta. Growing up on country music and classic rock, she has recently graduated from High School. Her ambition is to become a teacher.

She enjoys travelling, photography, playing the French Horn and percussion. Her personal motto is ‘The best things in life are worth waiting for, fighting for, believing in, and just never letting go off’.Describing herself, Mills says, she is a positive, spontaneous, open minded and outgoing person. ‘I’ve never met a stranger and enjoy meeting new people,’ she adds.The Miss World, whose special talents is singing, intends to travel the world and pursue a career in landscape and architectural photography. She also intends to study at college for a degree in photography.
