The first sequel of blockbuster hit film "Avatar" will come in 2014

The first sequel to blockbuster hit ‘Avatar’ will be released in December 2014 with a second to follow 12 months later, 20th Century Fox has announced.

‘We will not back off the throttle of Avatar`s visual and emotional horsepower,’ said James Cameron, who will start writing the scripts early next year and said the films will be ‘self-contained stories that also fulfil a greater story arc’. Cameron, 56, has yet to decide whether he will make the films separately or back to back. Like the first film, the Avatar sequels will be set on the distant moon of Pandora and will be shot in 3D.Avatar has earned $2.77 billion at the global box office. It holds for the record for the highest-grossing film ever, having exceeded Titanic’s international takings of $1.84bn in January.

In a news release, the Oscar-winning director said the Avatar sequels would ‘continue to explore its themes and characters, which touched the hearts of audiences in all cultures around the world’.He said he was ‘looking forward to returning to Pandora, a world where our imaginations can run wild.’ Cameron has already revealed his intention to set some of the sequels` action in the moon`s oceans. But when asked last week to elaborate on what else might be in store for audiences, he said plot details were ‘classified’.

Avatar used innovative special effects to follow the fortunes of a paraplegic ex-marine who takes the form of a 10-foot tall, blue-skinned alien. It is not known whether any of its cast members-- among them Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana-- will reprise their roles in the sequels.20th Century Fox executives Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman have expressed their pleasure with the plans to continue the studio`s lucrative franchise.‘We had no higher priority, and can feel no greater joy, than enabling Jim to continue and expand his vision of the world of Avatar,’ they said in a joint statement.

World's most expensive car sale in India

The world`s most expensive and fastest production car has gone on sale in India, with luxury manufacturer Bugatti making its debut in the land of rickshaws. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, which has a top speed of 407 kilometres an hour, went on display in a car dealership in the capital New Delhi on Thursday priced at 160 million rupees ($A3.69 million).Only 150 of the cars will be sold worldwide, although there will be few opportunities for the vehicle to show its performance on India`s potholed and notoriously congested roads.

"India is the hub of luxury, the country of the erstwhile maharajas, who were the true patrons of bespoke luxury," Bugatti executive Julius Kruta said in a statement, referring to India`s former hereditary rulers."We have in the past received a heartening response from our valued customers and I think the launch of the Bugatti in India will truly delight our discerning audience."

A host of Western luxury car and motorbike manufacturers are targeting the opportunities in India, where the fast-developing economy is minting new multi-millionaires every year.Shortcomings in public infrastructure are a major constraint on growth, and the nation`s road network often features poorly maintained single-lane routes outside highly congested urban areas.

One of the country`s best-known fast-car enthusiasts, superstar cricket batsman Sachin Tendulkar, beats the traffic by taking his Ferrari out in the early hours of the morning in his home town of Mumbai.Iconic motorbike maker Harley-Davidson is the most recent major brand to bet on India`s elite and has invested in a glitzy showroom in New Delhi, which opened in July.India has a record 69 US dollar billionaires, with 17 new members added to the exclusive club this year, according to American business magazine Forbes.

But some 836 million Indians live on less than 20 rupees (45 cents) a day, according to a government report, while Indian statistics on health, infant mortality, malnutrition and income are worse than those for sub-Saharan Africa

3G mobile internet now in Mount Everest

Nepali mobile network operator Ncell has installed the first 3G base station at the summit of Mount Everest, giving visitors, climbers and people living in the Khumbu Valley the ability to make calls and wirelessly connect to the Internet.

To test out the new facility, Ncell also made the world`s highest video call at 17,388 feet.So far, visitors of Mount Everest had to depend on satellite phones to make calls, but now they can do so through a standard GSM, 3G-enabled network. "The coverage of the network will reach up to the peak of the Everest," Ncell Nepal chief Pasi Koistinen said to reporters in Kathmandu on Thursday.Ncell is a joint venture between private investors and Sweden-based telecom TeliaSonera. Ncell`s network currently covers less than one-third of Nepal`s population, but TeliaSonera said it planned to invest $100 million in the next year to extend coverage to more than 90 percent of the country`s population.

"This achievement is as mighty as the altitude as 3G high speed internet will bring faster, more affordable telecommunication services to the people living in the Khumbu Valley, trekkers, and climbers alike," said TeliaSonera CEO Lars Nyberg.

Middle aged smokers are at more risk

People who smoke heavily in middle age could more than double their risk for Alzheimer`s disease and other forms of dementia 20 years later, according to research by Finnish experts published in a US journal.

It has been documented that smoking increases the risk of most diseases and mortality, but some studies have shown that smoking can reduce the chances of developing Parkinson`s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases."The link between smoking and risk of Alzheimer`s disease, the most common subtype of dementia, has been somewhat controversial, with some studies suggesting that smoking reduces the risk of cognitive impairment," the authors wrote in the report, posted online on Monday in the Archives of Internal Medicine, published by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).Minna Rusanen from the University of Eastern Finland and Kuopio University Hospital in Kuopio, Finland, analyzed data with colleagues from 21,123 members of a health care system who participated in a survey between 1978 and 1985, when they were between the ages of 50 and 60.

The diagnosis of Alzheimer`s and other forms of dementia were made between January 1994 and end in July 2008. The patients were on average 71.6 years old at the time.Of those patients studied, 5,367 participants, or 25.4 percent, were diagnosed with dementia during an average follow-up period of 23 years, including 1,136 and 416 in Alzheimer`s and vascular dementia. Those of the patients who smoked more than two packs of cigarettes per day in their fifties had a very high risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer`s in particular compared to non-smokers.Race and sex was not a factor in the study, the authors said.Smoking is a known risk factor for stroke, and may help increase the risk of vascular dementia in a similar manner, the authors wrote.

Smoking also contributes to oxidative stress and inflammation, believed to be important in the development of Alzheimer`s disease.Smoking may affect dementia development via vascular and neurodegenerative pathways, the authors write."Our study suggests that heavy smoking in middle age increases the risk of both Alzheimer`s disease and vascular dementia for men and women across different race groups. The large detrimental impact that smoking already has on public health has the potential to become even greater as the population worldwide ages and dementia prevalence increases."The authors said it is the first study that studies "the amount of midlife smoking on long-term risk of dementia and dementia subtypes in a large multiethnic cohort."Smoking is blamed for several million deaths per year from causes such as heart disease and cancer, according to background information in the article.

A 14 years old Pakistani boy , who wants to be a suicide bomber

Abdus Salam, whose face has been blurred for his own safety. Abdus Salam was brainwashed into believing he would be rewarded for carrying out a suicide attackIslamist militants told Abdus Salam he would go to heaven if he blew himself up. Initially he believed them, and trained to become a suicide bomber. Now 14, he tells the BBC`s Syed Shoaib Hasan how he narrowly escaped a violent death.

"Zahir, Sher Rahman and Zainullah are all older than me. They are all Taliban. Zahir and Rauf are actually from Afghanistan and have fought there.I have five brothers. My eldest brother works with my father. They run a construction-machinery rental business. My family has been living in Sohrab Goth, in Karachi, for the last 30 years.I used to hang out at a local shop run by Zahir. We used to talk about jihad, fidayeen attacks [suicide bombings] and such things.I have known Zahir for the past three years. One day, he took me aside and told me that he was going away to be a fidayee [suicide bomber].When I asked him why was he doing this, he replied: `I really want to be a fidayee, at least I will get heaven.`

I asked: `How is that?`He said: `If, on the day of judgement, I am asked "What did you do for Allah?" If I say I have done nothing, I will be sent to hell.`But if I have done something for Allah, if I have carried out a fidayeen attack, then I will be able to say that I had a body and I blew it to pieces as a sacrifice.`The shrine to Sufi Saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi, the target of an attack by twin teenage suicide bombers Karachi`s shrine to Sufi Saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi was recently targeted by teenage suicide bombersI was then introduced to Sher Rahman. I told him I wanted to go to Afghanistan, I said I wanted to carry out fidayeen attacks on the Americans. He said he wasn`t in touch with Afghanistan, but he was in contact with Waziristan.

He started praising the Waziristan Taliban in front of me. I told him I didn`t want to go to Waziristan, I wanted to go to Afghanistan to kill Americans.Sher Rahman told me I wouldn`t be able to cross into Afghanistan, because I don`t have a beard.`You should carry out a fidayee attack in Pakistan, in Karachi. Whether you carry out an attack in Afghanistan or in Pakistan, you will receive the same heavenly reward,` he said.Sher Rahman told me not to mention the conversations we had had to anyone. I said I definitely wouldn`t.He said if I told anyone, he would cut my head off. After he threatened me I was so scared I felt faint.I told Sher Rahman that I would blow myself up wherever he told me to, that I would become a fidayee there. He told me that he would try his best for me, and said some people would come and he would introduce me to them.

A few days later, Sher Rahman introduced me to Zainullah. Zainullah asked me whether I was committed to carrying out the act, or if it was all just talk.I told him: `Even if you call me in the middle of the night to carry out an attack, I will do it. I am ready to be a fidayee. I want to go to heaven. Few people get heaven, I am lucky to be a fidayee.`Pakistani volunteers carry an injured victim of a suicide bombing in Lakki Marwat on 6 September 2010 Dozens have been killed or injured in recent suicide attacks in PakistanZainullah said to me: `You shouldn`t be a suicide bomber - you are too young. You should make jackets for the suicide bombers. You will get heavenly rewards for the people who blow themselves up using your jackets`.But I told him that I didn`t want to do this.He also said that I could not go to Afghanistan, that they would not let me cross over because I don`t have a beard. Then he left, after warning me not to repeat our conversation.Zahir returned after fighting in Afghanistan and I became friends with him.He would tell me such incredible stories about jihad. He would say: `When you put on a fidayee jacket and walk to your target, you will see the gates of heaven open up for you.

`You will enter into heaven and feel nothing, while the people will blow up in the background.`I told him this was very good - that I would enter heaven and would stay there for ever.Later, Sher Rahman and Zainullah were both arrested. They never told me where I was to carry out the attack, but they recently told me to be ready for it on any day.If you met them you wouldn`t be able to tell what they were really like - they appear to be normal, straightforward people.During this period, every waking moment, all I thought about was being a fidayee.I thought I would carry out a fidayeen attack and go to heaven. When my teacher used to come for lessons, and while I was working, all I could think about was being a fidayee.Twenty-four hours a day I would think: `Heaven, fidayee, fidayee, heaven.`My father is diabetic and his health has got worse since he learnt about this. Now he can`t sleep at night. But now Allah has given me a new life. I want to concentrate on my studies and I want to work hard and join the Pakistan army."
